OEE (Overall equipment effectiveness) – the good production practice is one of activity evaluation methods widely applied in the production industry. This practice has proved that it is the main indicator in evaluation of activity of the company. OEE plays an important role in increasing effectiveness of production process, which also guarantees quality, consistency, and productivity. When installing the system with applied OEE theory, it is possible to adjust management tools, which will guarantee productive management and meeting 6 Sigma standards.
The benefits are directly tangible, e.g. relation between quality, deadlines for finishing the tasks, and payment. It is a common management method, which contributes to productivity augmentation, quality improvement, reducing expenditure, maintaining strict production delivery plan, improving safety conditions, and increasing employee morale. Equipment effectiveness can be increased by paying most of attention to reducing loss and downtimes.
The OEE theory helps to constantly monitor and improve effectiveness of the production process. The three basic indicators to calculate OEE are Availability, Performance and Quality, which help to identify effectiveness and efficiency of the production processes.

In addition, they allow identifying problems of decrease in productivity, which emerge during the production process.
The decision to use the OEE theory when developing the Terra CMMS management system for equipment maintenance and production operations was made in attempt to:
increase production volumes by use of available resources, this way meeting the clients’ needs;
increase production sales by reducing production input;
increase flexibility of production processes by including new products into production process.
